Privacy & data protection

The short, human version of how we look after your data. Last updated September 2026.

Who we are

NomadRadar is a community app for digital nomads. We are the data controller for the personal data you share with us. You can reach us any time at hello@nomadradar.app.

What we collect

Your account details (name, email), your profile (photos, bio, status, interests, links, WhatsApp number if you add it), the content you post, messages you send, event sign-ups, and — only if you switch it on — your approximate location at city level.

Your location

Location sharing is always opt-in. When it's on, we store only your city and rough coordinates — never your exact address or live GPS trail. You can switch it off at any time in your profile, and your pin disappears from the radar.

Why we use your data

To run the app: showing your profile to other nomads, putting you on the radar (only with your consent), signing you up for events, delivering messages and notifications you've asked for, and keeping the community safe. We don't sell your data and we don't run advertising profiles.

Legal bases (GDPR)

We process your data to perform our contract with you (your account), based on your consent (location sharing, optional profile details, notifications), and for our legitimate interests (security, abuse prevention, improving the app).

Who we share it with

Other members see the profile information you choose to publish. We use a small number of service providers (hosting, database, maps, email) who process data on our behalf under data-processing agreements. We never sell personal data.

How long we keep it

For as long as your account exists. When you delete your profile, your personal data, posts, messages and location history are deleted with it. Some records may be kept briefly where the law requires it.

Your rights

Under GDPR you can access your data, correct it, delete it, export it, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent at any time (for example by switching off location sharing). To exercise any of these rights, write to hello@nomadradar.app. You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Security

We use encrypted connections, access controls and row-level security in our database so members can only ever see what they're meant to see.

Changes

If we update this policy we'll post the new version here and, for significant changes, let you know in the app.
